Phang Nga Bay
To the north and east coast of Phuket, and the most popular yacht charter destination, is Phang Nga Bay – which offers the beaches, marine life and amazing scenery of Krabi, James Bond Island, Koh Lanta, Koh Racha and the Phi Phi Islands (Koh Phi Phi).
Phang Nga Bay has over 100 islands with incredible rock formations and limestone cliffs climbing vertically out of calm turquoise waters. This area is a marine national park, so the scenery is unspoiled, and the beaches clean and idyllic. It is a “must stop” destination for any yacht charter in Phuket, Thailand.
James Bond Island (Ko Tapu), pictured here, has become a major Phuket tourist and yacht charter destination since it was filmed in the James Bond film, “The Man with the Golden Gun”. It is quite dramatic sticking straight out of the water with its small base, and has become emblematic of the amazing topography of Phang Nga Bay.
Krabi is on the Thai mainland, almost directly east of Phuket Island. It is more relaxed than the tourist centre of Phuket, but still with the amazing sea mountain scenery, and coral fringed islands that offer superb snorkeling and diving. Railay Beach just to the south of Krabi, is world class. Most Phuket yacht charters visit Phang Nga Bay and Krabi on the same journey.
Phi Phi Islands
Even before it was made famous as the location of the movie “The Beach” Koh Phi Phi was a ‘must-visit’ yacht charter destination due to its spectacular cliffs and beautiful waters. The snorkeling, swimming and diving here are truly amazing.
Located on the Northwestern shore of Malaysia is the archipelago of Langkawi Islands offering the best of many worlds: beautiful beaches, world- class infrastructure, mangroves rich in flora and fauna, ultra- cheap duty-free shopping and fascinating legends.
The acrhipelago of Langkawi contains 99 Islands awaiting discovery and that is when the tide is high! At low tide, the Islands can number as many as 104.
Despite what looks like a slant towards tourism, many of the islanders are actually farmers, fishermen and entrepreneurs. Experience the beautiful countryside and peaceful landscape of paddy fields by renting a car and taking a leisurely drive around the island. Some of Langkawi’s most rustic and memorable views are along the road that circles the island.
